IQOQI ViennaRelative subsystems and quantum frame transformations

How does the world "look" from the perspective of a system in quantum superposition? Can we extend our notion of reference frame/coordinate transformations to "jump" to the perspective of such a system? Questions of this kind have attracted attention in recent years, with much work focused on defining them precisely and constructing theoretical frameworks for addressing them. In this talk, I will present in detail one such framework, recently referred to as the "extra particle" approach to QRF transformations. I will focus on how we derive QRF transformations, the reasons why we derive them the way we do, and the consequences thereof. I will also discuss the subsystem structure and compositional aspects of the framework, together with the role of the so-called extra-particle degrees of freedom.
