My work lies at the interface of quantum gravity and quantum information. The main objective of my research is to understand the quantum nature of spacetime. Entanglement plays a central role in these investigations. I develop new methods in quantum information theory and apply them to a wide range of phenomena that include: (i) the architecture of spacetime in loop quantum gravity, (ii) quantum aspects of black hole physics, (iii) cosmology and the primordial state of the universe, (iv) entanglement and thermalization in isolated many-body quantum systems. My research strategy is to profit from the cross-fertilization of these diverse areas.
